Technology: Word Review Day 9-27-10

What We Did Today:

* We worked on keyboardingonline.com for about 10 minutes.

* Then we reviewed how to access projects from home through Netstorage on the district website.

* Then we reviewed the different parts of Microsoft Word. There is a quiz on Tuesday to see what things we know about changing font, inserting shapes etc.

What We Did Today:

* We started off with Journal #13: Over the weekend I…

* Then we discussed the Body of the essay or the part that describes the events and actions that took place. We discussed the importance of showing the person what happened as opposed to telling them what happens.

* Then we had time to work on our essays and add description to the body of the essay. Share with a friend, are you showing them or telling them?

* We started off with This Day in History.

* We took some notes on Wright County in 1920. WC 1920

* Then we had time to review the reading that was homework over the weekend and study for the quiz we have tomorrow.1920WS

Quest: Mesopotamia Timeline 9-27-10

What We Did Today:

* We started off with This Day in History.

* Then we went to the computer lab where we looked at a timeline of Mesopotamia and answered some questions and investigated based on this information. Mesopotamia Website Activity Tomorrow is the MAP Reading test but we will finish this on Wednesday in class.

Writing: Introduction 9-24-10

What We Did Today:

* We started off with Journal #12: My favorite holiday is…because…

* Then we took a closer look at an Introduction Paragraph. Narrative Writing Format

* After looking at what makes a great introduction we had some time to look at our Narrative Essay and add to and change our Introductions. Then we shared our introductions with the person sitting next to us and we made any changes that they suggested as well.

Quest: Canaan 9-24-10

What We Did Today:

* We looked at the physical features of a photo Canaan and thought about the geographic features where we would live.

* We then mapped out some of the main physical features and had people show us where they would live. We discussed the pros and cons to living in these locations.

* Then we read about the first people to live in Canaan and where they actually settled, some of their struggles and why they ended up where they did. We are continuing to lay the foundation work for our more in-depth studies of the region.

* If there was time we watched CNN Student News.

Technology: Word Project Last Day 9-24-10

What We Did Today:

* For the students that needed more time to finish the Word Project we had the hour to work on completing the projects. The project had to be completed by the end of the hour. When you are completed with the project you were to double check you had everything on the check-list. Then you were to write your name on teh check-list and turn it into the turn in bin for hour two on the wall.

* Once you were finished you had a few options. You could help others with their projects, work on www.keyboardingonline.com or http://www.freetypinggame.net/play.asp for the rest of the hour to work on your keyboarding skills.

Homework:

* NONE! The Word Project was due today!

* We started off watching CNN Student News.

* I handed back the quiz on Wright County in 1880 and we reviewed it.

* Then we finished any remaining Hypothesis of the 3 largest cities in the 1920′s.

* Then we read about life in Wright County in the 1920′s. WC1920

* There will be a quiz on Tuesday on Wright County in 1920′s.

* Finish the 1920′s reading by Monday.
